ROLLING STONE EDDIE & ALEX INTERVIEWS ONLINE:
Ok, we now have audio of the interview Rolling Stone Magazine did with Van Halen to promote their 2007 tour that may or may not happen.
Here's the blurb from the magazine's website: "Last week we were hit with the tragic news that Van Halen's highly anticipated and freshly announced reunion tour was being indefinitely postponed. The jury is still out on what all this means — especially with regard to the band's performance plans at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony March 12th in New York City. A few weeks ago, our Brian Hiatt spoke to Eddie and Alex Van Halen about — among other things — the band's thoughts on being inducted and the logistics of going onstage with VH members new and old to play the award show. Whatever news unfolds, we prefer to bask in the more innocent, if fleeting times when there was hope and excitement underneath the Van Halen brothers' HoF wise-cracking..."
Here are the links -
- On what they thought upon hearing that they'd been nominated [listen]
- On their plans for performing at the ceremony [listen]
- On ousting Michael Anthony and naming Wolfgang the band's new bassist; new material; tour news [listen]
- On the future of Van Halen [listen]
I have listened to these clips a couple of times now. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. This is a band that needs to do something positive to help their current image and I don't think this does the trick. I don't know about everyone else, but the initial excitement I felt that my favourite band were going to tour again (even if it is without the legendary Michael Anthony) has gradually slipped away, then we get the tour postponement news...and now these interview clips.
These interview clips are not something I would be proud of. I'm not sure these guys are hearing what fans are saying. David Lee Roth has shown real class in recent weeks, but that class is lacking here. Take a listen...what do you all think?

MEGADETH - THAT ONE NIGHT LIVE IN BUENOS AIRES LIVE DVD:
Megadeth and Image Entertainment have confirmed the March 6, 2007 release of That One Night Live In Buenos Aires live DVD. The show was filmed live at Obras Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 9, 2005 before a rabid audience of over 25,000 fans. The 90-plus minute film and CD features songs encompassing Megadeth's career, ranging from their 1986 album Peace Sells...But Who's Buying through 2004's The System Has Failed. A CD version will be released March 27.
"This was one of the greatest nights of my life", says Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine. "I am glad I was able to document it and share it with you. That One Night is a lesson in metal fanaticism by some of the best participating, most frenzied, and intense concert-goers in the world! I have waited ten years to show the rest of the world how much Megadeth and Argentina love each other. If seeing this doesn't convince you how lethal a Megadeth concert in Argentina with some very close personal friends can be, don't worry…you're already dead."
Megadeth recently wrapped up a leg of dates in Japan and Australia, as well as their second annual Gigantour festival tour of the U.S., which included Lamb of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Into Eternity, Sanctity and The Smash-Up. The multi-act, two-stage festival ran September 6 through October 8. A DVD and CD of last year's inaugural Gigantour was also released by Image Entertainment.
In a review of the New York Gigantour show, Ben Ratliff of the New York Times noted "Mr. Mustaine was one of speed-metal s originators, and his double-time riffs are propulsive; bending over his guitar, long blond tresses hanging down, he gives his solos the direct feeling of wrestling with the music as he plays it, with some chaos and aggression" (September 30, 2006).
Since wrapping up Gigantour 2006, Mustaine and the band--guitarist Glen Drover, drummer Shawn Drover and bassist James Lomenzo--have been working on a new CD, set for release in 2007 via Roadrunner Records.
Track listing for That One Night - Blackmail The Universe, Set The Word Afire, Wake Up Dead, In My Darkest Hour, She Wolf, Reckoning Day, A Tout Le Monde, Hangar 18/Return To Hangar, I'll Be There, Tornado of Souls, Trust, Something That I'm Not, Kick The Chair, Coming Home, Symphony of Destruction, Peace Sells, Holy Wars. Special Feature Symphony of Destruction Alternative Mix.

ROB HALFORD GOES DIGITAL:
For more than a decade value-added CD and DVD packaging have spurred sales and achieved very impressive appearances and functions. Finally, the brethren to physical packaging in the digital arena has arrived, and it too offers distributors unlimited premium services for their targeted consumers.
As the game, music, film and television industries adjust their business models from a physical to a digitally-managed and digitally-distributed environment; visionaries have curiously asked 'what does digital packaging consist of?' Is it possible to provide exclusive packaging to the consumer and control its digital proliferation?
Heavy Metal musician Rob Halford (Halford / Judas Priest vocalist) launched his new label Metal God Entertainment late-November 2006; utilizing digital distribution as his exclusive means to distribute current and future music and film product www.HalfordMusic.com. That is right, no traditional brick-and-mortar music store housing The Metal God's works - at least not yet. Metal God Entertainment also operates a global iTunes label featuring Rob Halford's music and short-film releases for the world's iTunes and iPod communities.
Consumers purchasing from www.HalfordMusic.com will find each of Rob Halford's six (6) music releases accompanied with a premium digital package housing music and film for PC purchasers. Mac users receive the premium digital packaging and 192k MP3 files. Due to Apple's iTunes Digital Rights Management restrictions; Mac users must purchase Halford's videos direct from Apple's iTunes Store.
Halford's Digital Entertainment Packages (DEP) have been soundly developed for Apple's Mac OS X systems as well as Microsoft's PC Windows environment. Each Halford premium digital package offers a custom interface which guides users through their new music, videos, wallpaper, lyrics, expanded liner notes and promotional photographs.
Click on Rob Halford discography within the digital package, and a music player appears with 30 second audio clips of Rob Halford's entire solo catalog; as well as, links to purchase or gift a song, release or entire catalog.
Halford's DEPs also include Halford updates via a web link to www.RobHalford.com. Rob's official site hosts millions of visitors annually.
Halford debuted his first premium digital packaging in 2004 - featuring a rare 'live' performance of his band at Anaheim, California's House of Blues, and a retro-styled video game which ignited his web boards for an entire year as his audience strived for highest score.
Every organization faces new marketing challenges as the industry embraces digital distribution. HalfordMusic.com and iTunes deliver quality music and film produce over the Internet to the consumer.
However, many consumer's dread looking at just a web page and order form. They want to be enveloped and allowed to see how a production was created, and they want to be entertained during the process. Someone in my audience is discovering our DEPs everyday; and their reactions are off-the-charts.
